The boys enjoyed interactive sessions where they learnt about household expenses (it was fascinating to hear the boys’ ideas on the cost of a weekly grocery shop!), borrowing money and debt, and the stock market. They had a session on taxes and were astounded to learn about some of the more bizarre taxes that have existed over the years: the Wallpaper Tax, the Window Tax and the Wig Tax, to name a few. They also learnt about financial bubbles and couldn’t believe that in the 1600s tulip bulbs could command prices greater than luxury homes in Holland!
