Pen-y-Ghent
During Activities Week Year 7 returned to the Lancashire-Yorkshire border for a week of outdoor activities. The pupils were excited to take on a hike to Pen-y-Ghent (one of Yorkshire’s highest peaks) and remained enthusiastic despite challenging conditions, both elevational and meteorological.
Pupils also had the opportunity to partake in several other challenging activities. Stream scrambling was enjoyed, while caving, canoeing, and abseiling were the highlights. In the evenings pupils had an archery competition, and the evening campfire and circus games were also thoroughly enjoyed. This made a change from last year’s Sumo Night as Blade’s Karate skills would have put everyone to shame. Throughout the week, the boys were in fierce competition with Mr Morrison and his ‘Uno’ cards whilst enjoying a well- stocked tuck shop.
Year 7 were a pleasure to take away and made this trip a great end to the year. Pupils were taken slightly out of their comfort zone, socialised outdoors and were most supportive of all their peers. With form tutors originating from such a proud and distinguished area of the country (one from Lancashire, the other from Yorkshire), Year 7’s affiliation to the North of England stands strong!
